After searching for various guides for a holiday in Shanghai, I ended up buying the two best guides I found. Once on the ground, this Frommer's guide was actually better than the Eyewitness one I had bought. Walks in the city were good. Restaurant recommendations were very good. A minus: if you can find a guide that has the corresponding Chinese addresses written next to the ones in English, that would be much more useful, as the taxi drivers would then stand a chance to understand where you want to be driven to, rather than having to resort on hotel staff all the time to write it down in Chinese.Product details

I returned this book because I liked the other ones on Shanghai better. This is good if you only nave a short time in Shanghai but it is very brief.
Really informative and was great help on how to spend my days in Shanghai. I have always love Frommer's travel books!
Quick read. Doesn't try to be a definitive history of China, just a handy guide for those with 3 - 5 days in Shanghai. The subway map is great.
I usually love day but days, but this one was sadly disappointed. Outdated as many places no longer there or have moved.
This was broken down into the major areas of the city. Where it lacked was train options info for outside side trips, info was plain wrong. You cannot use train ticket machines unless you have a Chinese ID card. I plan to email Frommers to let them know. You also need your passport to travel by train which the book did not say. Other than that very helpful and pretty comparable to other travel books. Size was convenient for my purse and it breaks down by day things to see if you have only a few days in the city.
I had a three day layover in Shanghai. This is a great book with an awesome pull out map and nice area maps of each major neighborhood to visit in Shanghai. It fits in your purse too. Has everything you need to do for a few days while in Shanghai. I travel a lot and this book was very handy!
