Those of you with a sense of humour will love this book. The pad Thai recipe comes from my good friend in Bangkok. In the two years I have known him he has sold pad Thai to foreigners with no complaints. I have put in photographs that I took around Thailand and other places. The recipe is a good one but the rest of the book must be taken with a pinch of salt. Thank you.

When I opened this book, I think I was expecting recipes for pad thai (perhaps prepared several different ways). I was miffed when I found that that was not the case. However, as I began to read and as I looked at the photographs, I found myself smiling.This book turned out to be full of poetry and exotic photographs. The English is not perfect (I don't think it's meant to be). In the context of poetry, the writing is endearing. The photographs are small, but they are vibrant and they tell detailed stories if you look hard enough.
Perhaps I would not go so far as to say that I got a Thai vacation, but I certainly got a taste of local sights, sounds and flavors through thoughtful poetry and careful (or sometimes spontaneous) photography.
To be sure, my review is subjective. However, because this book made me smile (in a good way), it garners all five of my review stars.
Oh, and at the end there is a really good pad thai recipe.
